Kitemark® Fire Alarm Installers – strong support from industry …

New to International Fire Expo this year will be BSI Product Services Kitemark Service team – on hand to promote and explain the critical benefits of the Kitemark scheme for Fire Alarm Installers.
In the United Kingdom the Fire Safety Order (FSO) and the Fire (Scotland) Bill became law in October 2006. This completely changed the way fire safety in business premises is treated. Ultimately, the responsibility for fire safety now falls to the building owner. All building owners will be required to carry out fire risk assessments of their premise(s) and fix any issues the assessment highlights. In addition the Chief Fire Officers Association in its drive to reduce false alarms has introduced a policy on attending call-outs by automatic alarms which means that alarms will need to be maintained by accredited third party installers
To help fire alarm installers prove that they are competent and accredited, BSI developed the Kitemark scheme to BAFE Standard SP203 for Fire Alarm Installers and has been rolling this out for the last few months.

With many willing supporters, the scheme is set to become an industry standard for demonstrating capability in this field and proving to be a huge benefit for businesses that are now able to guarantee their customers that they can purchase confidently.

“International Fire Expo has proved to be one of the best ways for us to help our existing clients meet the new regulations and get the most benefit out of product certification. With the increasing range of services that we offer now including the Kitemark scheme for Fire Alarm Installers International Fire Expo gives visitors to chance to find out all they need to know” says Engineering Product Manager, Guy Huxtable.
